The people who are actively involved in Greenpeace must be around 40 according to the estimates of the youths from Youth Marketeers’ Thinknetwork. They are a bunch of hippies, left-wing extremists, idealists, activists, and environmental freaks, not something you want to be a part of. Greenpeace is better off having two faces: the leftist activist and the young, positive people who achieve results with their own Greenpeace campaigns. Hip instead of Hippie!
The youths of the Thinknetwork told us to focus on the positive aspects of Greenpeace. Young people don’t really seem to know what Greenpeace is actually involved in. They associate Greenpeace with hard action and feel like there’s no room for them. To effectively reach youths, the organization must clearly communicate what it truly represents. That is the foundation for more actively involved youths. Youths still believe Greenpeace does a good job.
